How to Care for Your Fresh Bouquet or Flower Box After Recieving

Congratulations on receiving your beautiful flowers! Whether you’ve been gifted a stunning bouquet or one of our signature Flower Boxes, proper care is the secret to keeping them fresh and vibrant for as long as possible. Here’s a handy guide tailored for you.

Caring for Your Fresh Bouquet:

Your bouquet is a traditional arrangement designed to be put into a vase and will thrive for up to 10 days when properly cared for. Follow these steps:

  1. Unwrap with Care
Carefully remove any outer wrapping of the bouquet, but keep any decorative ribbons or ties in place so that it will retain the design.

  2. Trim the Stems
Although our first already does this when creating the bouquet, you mihgt need to shorten the stems to fit them into a particular vas. If so, to cut the stems down to size, cut each stem at a 45-degree angle using clean scissors. This opens up the stems for better water absorption.

  3. Use a Clean Vase
Wash your vase thoroughly with clean water and no detergent to eliminate an bacteria, then fill it with fresh, filtered, cool water. Avoid using tap water if possible, as it often contains chlorine, fluoride and salts that can damage your flowers or hinder their ability to absorb nutrients. Filtered water is gentler and helps flowers stay fresh longer.

  4. Remove Lower and Damaged Leaves and Flowers
Trim away any leaves that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacteria build up and keep the water clean. Additionally, remove any yellowing or damaged leaves or flowers to allow the plant to direct all its energy and water towards the healthy parts, ensuring your arrangement stays vibrant longer.

  5. Refresh Every Few Days
Change the water every 3 days, re-cut the stems slightly, and clean the vase to extend the life of your flowers.

  6. Place in the Perfect Spot
Display your bouquet in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight, heavy drafts, air conditioning vents and heat sources. Usually the centre of a large, well lit room like the dining table is a good place or corner of the bedroom away from the window.

Caring for Your Fresh Flower Box:

Our bespoke Flower Boxes are designed for longevity and easy care. Here’s how to ensure to keep them looking amazing:

  1. Keep It Upright
Place your flower box on a flat, stable surface, and avoid tipping it to prevent water spillage.

  2. Hydrate the Flowers
Inside the box, the flowers are arranged in floral foam that holds water. Gently access from the back of the box so that you don't disrupt the front design and peel back the wrapping to pour a small amount of water directly into the foam near the base of the stems every 1–2 days. Use about ¼ cup to start, and adjust as needed. be careful not to spill water outside the plastic or you may cause water damage to the keepsake reusable box that they come in. Please Note: A simple test is if you touch the floral foam and it's wet the finger tip, then you don't need to add any water

  3. Place in the Perfect Spot
Display your bouquet in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight, heavy drafts, air conditioning vents and heat sources. Usually the centre of a large, well lit room like the dining table is a good place or corner of the bedroom away from the window.

  4. No Trimming Required
Unlike bouquets, the stems are already set perfectly within the foam, so there’s no need to cut them.

  5. Trim Away Yellowing or Damaged Leaves or Flowers
Carefully trim yellowing or damaged leaves or simply cut off drooping blooms as they might be dying so by cutting them away all the water and nutrients will be directed towards the healthy areas of the bouquet during it's lifespan which can be up to 10 days!

  6. Dust Lightly
If your box collects dust, gently wipe it with a clean, dry cloth to maintain it's polished look.

Bonus Tip for Both Arrangements!

  • Avoid Ethylene Exposure: Keep flowers away from ripening fruit, which emits ethylene gas that can make flowers wilt faster.

By following these tips, your Bouquet or Flower Box will remain fresh and vibrant, spreading joy and beauty throughout your space.
